Monitoring Applications

Before the closing date for accepting new applications, the search committee chair should periodically review the applications to ensure that the applicant pool will likely be sufficient for the hiring need.

If the quantity or quality of applicants is not consistent with what is expected or needed for the position, the search committee chair should meet with the human resources recruiter, hiring manager, and/or Dean’s Office designee to discuss how to generate more applicants for the position.

Important Note: Once a position is posted on any job site (e.g., Workday, Interfolio), the details of the position description (including the description, qualifications, and deadline) should not be changed by the search committee chair. The position should only be edited at this point by a Dean’s Office designee or the human resources recruiter. Unauthorized changes to a position description at this stage could negatively impact the faculty search process.
